FIS Tour de Ski Lenzerheide presents two new side events
At this year's FIS Tour de Ski not only the confirmed competition fans get their money's worth. A first highlight is the opening ceremony on 27 December 2019, which will take place for the first time in Lenzerheide magic forest and will allow sport and culture to merge. The organisers are also looking forward to the proven «Coop Mini World Cup» and two new side events for young talents and families: «TDS LEGENDS paired with future stars» and «Coop Hello Family Sprint».
The anticipation is great: on 28/29 December 2019, the cross-country skiing elite will once again meet in Lenzerheide to kick off the Coop FIS Tour de Ski performance by Le Gruyère AOP 2019/20. The two disciplines mass start and sprint in free technique guarantee exciting competitions and inspire young and old. The latter two will also be the focus of attention, namely at the new FIS Tour de Ski Side events on Sunday, 29 December 2019. On the one hand, the young cross-country skiers will compete against the ageing elite, on the other hand, the FIS Tour de Ski Stadium will also be the venue for a family competition of a different kind.
TDS LEGENDS paired with future stars
Andy Grünenfelder, Jürg Capol or Adriano Iseppi are names that are all too well remembered in the cross-country skiing scene. They are former Swiss cross-country skiing legends who will once again experience a real competitive feeling on the last weekend of December. As part of the FIS Tour de Ski Side event «TDS LEGENDS paired with future stars», they will complete a team sprint together with young athletes on the sprint course in the FIS Tour de Ski Stadium. The teams will be drawn by lots and started in the semi-finals.
Coop Hello Family Sprint
After the legend race, the focus will be on the families. On the same track that had been occupied by the world's best cross-country skiers a short time before, the «Coop Hello Family Sprint» allows families to complete a team sprint. On a shortened stadium lap, four to six families start together, with obstacles on the course providing an additional challenge. The fun in the snow is the main focus and should be a successful conclusion of the FIS Tour de Ski cross-country festival for the visitors.
Coop Mini World Cup
As with the last event at the turn of the year 2017/18, daily children's races will take place in the Activity Zone during this year's FIS Tour de Ski race weekend. In the «Coop Mini World Cup», children aged 6 to 16 will run a two-placed course, with the winner being the child with the smallest time difference between the two runs. The winners may then present the prizes to their elite role models at the award ceremony.
